(September 18, 2018) – The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image 2018 international Jury has selected the top 80 yacht racing images taken this year throughout the world. One hundred nine pictures had been submitted for consideration by photographers spanning 25 countries.
The Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image is open to professional photographers from all over the world. The contest pays tribute to their work and provides them with a platform that contributes to the promotion of the sport of sailing to a wider audience. Eligible photos were taken between October 13, 2017 and September 12, 2018.
For the 9th edition, three prizes along with a €2000 award purse will be presented on October 23 at the Yacht Racing Forum in Lorient, France:
• The main prize is the ‘Mirabaud Yacht Racing Image’, selected by the international jury: Jesus Renedo, professional photographer, Sofia Bekatorou, former Olympic champion, Cory Silken, professional photographer, Nicolas Mirabaud, member of the Executive Committee, Mirabaud & Cie SA, Jean-Baptise Epron, boats graphic designer and Skippers magazine editor Brice Lechevalier.
• The ‘Yacht Racing Forum Award’, decided by the 350 delegates of the Yacht Racing Forum.
• The ‘Public Award’ is based on the number of votes on Internet. This is a fun award, aimed at increasing the visibility of both the photographers and the entire contest. Photographers are encouraged to like and share pictures, and to do as much self-promotion as they like. This prizes recognizes the quality of the winning picture as well as the photographers’ network and the support he (she) can generate around him and his (her) photograph.
From the top 80 pictures, the international jury will select their top 20 images that will then be exhibited on October 22 and 23 during the 2018 Yacht Racing Forum for which the forum delegates will cast their votes to determine the Yacht Racing Forum Award.
The public is now invited to vote for the Public Award (open until October 10). The 80 images can be viewed below. To vote for your favorite, click here.
