I420 Midwinter Championship 2019

Published on February 18th, 2019

Sarah Burn and Gabby Delbello won the 2019 I420 Midwinter Championship held February 16-18 in Miami, FL.

Posting four bullets and only one race out of the top 3, they dominated the 31-boat fleet, building a 16-point margin over Max Anker and Trevor Bornarth in second. Closing strong was Liam O’Keefe/Libby Redmond posting a 1-2-1 on the final day to move up onto the podium in third. The regatta saw generally light to moderate conditions, mostly sunny skies, and typical warm mid-winter conditions.

This event was the final of two US Sailing qualifiers for the 2019 Youth Sailing World Championship, as well as the final US qualifier of the year for I420 Worlds and I420 Jr. Europeans. US Sailing will announce the teams for Youth Worlds and the US I420 Class will announce Team USA members for I420 Worlds (in Portugal) and I420 Jr. Europeans (in Spain) by mid-March.
