Bowers Leading at Melges 14 Nationals

Published on June 8th, 2019

Lake Geneva, WI (June 8, 2019) – The second day of racing at the 2019 Melges 14 U.S. National Championship was characterized by big fun both on and off the water — and more Erik Bowers domination.

The top 10 includes sailors ranging ages 15 to 50 and weights 140 to 230. The breeze was a consistent 13 knots, gusting to 20 – a perfect day on the lake. The Lake Geneva Yacht Club hosted 3 great races and an after-sailing cookout.

Bowers has won all six races in this event so far and leads overall with a picket fence, followed by Chapman Petersen, Vincent Porter, Eddie Cox, and Marek Valasek.

New Melges 14 U.S. National Champions will be crowned tomorrow in the open, blue, masters, and female divisions.
