(October 23, 2019) – Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and Hospice organizations awarded the Triple Crown of Charity Sailing Trophy to Dan Flagler (above, second from left) of Flagfest at The Market House in Annapolis, MD.

Presenting the trophy was Mike Flanagan, CEO/President of Weems & Plath (trophy sponsors). The trophy is awarded annually to the skipper who raises the most funds and finishes highest in The Leukemia Cup, The CRAB Cup, and The Hospice Cup races each year. Each race is scored independently. Dan beat out first-year winner John Heintz by one-point for the trophy.

The jointly promoted charity sailing races are held in June, August, and September each year. In 2018, the Triple Crown of Charity Sailing Trophy was created to promote greater skipper participation in all three races and to enhance fundraising support for the respective charities.
