Tom Slingsby wins Moth Pre-Worlds

Published on December 11th, 2019

Tom Slingsby (AUS) took a big step toward his goal of winning the Moth Worlds by winning the 2019 Moth Australian Championships held December 10-11 in Perth, Australia. With 111 competitors, the event doubled as the tune-up for the 2019 Moth Worlds on December 13-18.

With Perth experiencing unprecedented heat, the racing was sailed in scorching conditions with Scott Babbage, Rob Greenhalgh, Tom Burton, Kyle Langford, and Will Boulden all showing wheels with no consensus on gear as Bieker, Exocet, and MACH2 platforms along with a variety of sails and rigs were in use.

Slingsby took the championship win on a count back to Babbage with Kyle Langford in third.

The 2019 Moth Worlds will have a practice race on December 12, followed by the qualifying racing on December 13-14, a reserve day on December 15 and finals racing from December 16-18.
