5O5 World Championship is cancelled

Published on April 6th, 2020

The International 5O5 Class is the latest to cancel a World Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, determining it was no longer prudent to proceed with plans for the 2020 title on August 13-22 in Torekov, Sweden.

“The World Championship event normally attracts, to the one start line, up to 180 of the world’s best and enthusiastic boats,” noted Class President Michel Quirk. “However, the event needs a long lead time to organize and allow competitors to arrange travel from the 18 countries around the world where the boat is sailed.”

The 2021 World Championship will be held October 26 to November 6 in Bermuda.
