Published on April 8th, 2020
The Flying Scot Sailing Association (FSSA) will be raffling off two (2) new Flying Scot sailboats and multiple prizes by June 1, 2020.
Chances for winning two new Flying Scot Boats, trailers, and new sails worth approximately $27,400/boat can be purchased at $150 per ticket (5 ticket limit). No more than 360 tickets will be sold. Those not winning the new boats are eligible to win over $4000 in prizes which will go 10 deep from a menu of sails, trailer, cover, gear, and apparel companies. Vendors included in the menu are our longtime sponsors: Flying Scot, Inc., Mad Sails, North Sails, Schurr Sails, Quantum Sails, Rooke Sails, Ullman Sails, Coral Reef Sailing Apparel, Annapolis Performance Sailing, Sailors’ Tailor, and West Marine.
The winning raffle ticket will be drawn (on June 1, 2020) and the winner will pick up (or have delivered) her/his new Flying Scot boat by mid-July (if not sooner) in time for sailing locally or at the North American Championships in Cedar Point, CT. The boat will be built by Flying Scot Inc., of Deer Park, Maryland. Proceeds ($5000) will go to the Flying Scot Sailing Association Foundation.
Purchase of Tickets:
Tickets can be purchased at the on-line store of the Flying Scot Sailing Association Foundation or from FSSA Executive Secretary Courtney Waldrup – 803-252-5646, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s):
• Can you win more than one boat in this raffle? No, only 1 boat or prize per person!
• Is it possible to customize the boat after winning the raffle? Yes, there will be time for you to contact Tyler or Carrie Andrews (boat builder) at Flying Scot Inc. to determine color of hull, accouterments, etc.
• If all the tickets sell before the June 1st deadline, will the drawing commence earlier? Yes!
• Do you have to be a FSSA member to buy a ticket? No!
UPDATE: The class sold their limit of 360 tickets in less than three weeks so rather than wait to hold the drawing in June, they held it on April 17 and the lucky winners of two new Flying Scots were David Rousseau from Massachusetts and Bill Parker from Michigan. Also, gift certificate winners include Jennifer Ikeda ($1000), Peter Barclay ($900), Tom Adomat ($800), Mark Foster ($800), James Fletcher ($600), Linda Nicholson ($500), Cary Close ($400), James Hudson ($300), and William Garrett ($200). The proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Flying Scot Foundation which helps to ensure the future of Flying Scot Sailing.
