2020 High Sierra Regatta is cancelled

Published on May 22nd, 2020

The High Sierra Regatta, an iconic California event in the Sierra Nevada for trailerable boats, will be cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. At an elevation of 6955-feet, drought conditions halted racing in 2014 and 2015, with this health crisis as the latest incident for host Fresno Yacht Club.

Planned in 2020 for July 11-12 and July 18-19, the impact of COVID-19 issues, coupled with additional expected rules and policies generated by the Forest Service, State of California, and the FYC insurance carrier required the third cancellation in the event’s 68 year history.

As a result, the 65th annual event will now be held July 10-11 and 17-18 in 2021.
