Virtual induction for Sailing Hall of Fame
Published on August 13th, 2020
Due to COVID-19, the 10th anniversary of the U.S. National Sailing Hall of Fame’s induction process will recognize the Class of 2020 in a virtual celebration on September 12 at 6:00pm EDT.
These sailors reflect the breadth of sailing in our country, embody the commitment to excellence that few possess and provide inspiration for generations of sailors to come. Their achievements span three categories – sailing, technical and contributor – and encompass a broad spectrum of accomplishments, from historic accounts to iconic paintings, from ice boating to windsurfing, and from coaching to safety and rules.
Participating in the event to introduce the new inductees are Hall of Famers Peter Harken, Stan Honey, Bob Johnstone and Tom Whidden; among other notables in the sailing community.
The evening will be hosted by National Sailing Hall of Fame President Gus Carlson and Board Member Gary Jobson with remarks from Cory Sertl, President of US Sailing and others. A live Q&A with the newly inducted members to the Hall of Fame will be moderated by fellow Hall of Famer, Gary Jobson.
Plans are in place to celebrate both the 2020 and 2021 inductees in person next year in Newport, RI. To attain access for the 2020 virtual event, click here.
