Honoring industry achievement in 2020

The Marine Equipment Trade Show (METSTRADE), the world’s largest exhibition for the international leisure marine industry, was not immune in 2020 to the COVID-19 cancellations. While annually providing a massive business-to-business in the Netherlands, METSTRADE is also known for its awards which recognize achievement in the industry.
But with the challenges of the year, METSTRADE shifted the focus of their annual awards to issues more pressing during the pandemic. Here are the recipients of this unique recognition:
• The DAME (Design at METSTRADE) R&D Excellence in Adversity Award recognized the efforts of global equipment manufacturers that have kept design at the forefront of their development efforts during the pandemic challenges of 2020. Among 47 entries, the winner was the TEMO 450 electric outboard from TEMO. – Full report
• Additionally, the annual Boat Builder Awards for Business Achievement sought to recognize the challenges, ingenuity, and resolve in the wake of the coronavirus crisis. For 2020, five awards were presented, two of which in new categories to spotlight the industry’s response to COVID-19. Among the honorees was boat builder Christoph Rassy, founder of Hallberg-Rassy, who received the Lifetime Achievement award. – Full report
