World Masters Games postponed

Published on January 7th, 2021

The 10th World Masters Games, planned for 2021 on May 14-30 in Japan’s Kansai region, has been postponed to 2022. Typically held the year after the Summer Olympics for athletes aged 30 and up, this change returns the event to its previous quadrennial schedule.

Sailing is among the 35 sports with entry open in the Laser, Laser Radial, Tasar, Hansa 303 (single and double), Windsurfer LT, Techno293+, and Glide.

Nearly 15,000 competitors in total had registered, but the target was 50,000, which would be the Games’ all-time largest number of participants. The delay will allow greater participation from all around the world.
