Scuttlebutt Sailing News was first launched in 1997, and while we have evolved over time, the focus remains to provide major sailing news and commentary with a North American focus. We have never sought to be the biggest, preferring instead to deliver a reliable and responsible service to a specific territory.

While it has been gratifying to be the top ranked site on Google when searching for sailing news, now The Adventure Junkies have Scuttlebutt at the top of their list. Famous for their outdoor rankings, from biking to hiking to scuba, their mission is to get people to play outdoors. We like that too.

Their objective method of ranking, which measures web traffic and the authority of the site on the internet, uses indicators such as Alexa Score, Page Authority, and Domain Authority. While Scuttlebutt spends zero time trying to optimize our score, we’re pleased our efforts to serve the sport rank high on the scoreboard too.
