PHOTOS: Prada Cup trophy ceremony

Photographer Gilles Martin-Raget captured the public ceremony on February 23 to hand over the Prada Cup to Italy’s Luna Rossa in Auckland, New Zealand.

The series began with four round robins (Jan. 15-17 and Jan. 22-24) in which the winner of the series (INEOS Team UK) qualified for the Prada Cup Final and the remaining two Challengers (Luna Rossa and American Magic) competed in the Semi-Final Series (Jan. 29-Feb. 2).

Luna Rossa advanced to the Final against INEOS Team UK, with this match extending from February 13 to 21 before Italy won 7-1 to earn entry to face the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in the America’s Cup Match beginning March 6.

Due to Level 2 health restrictions when they won, Italy had delayed the formal presentation at Auckland’s Viaduct Basin cup village, with the city moving back into the less restrictive alert Level 1 at midnight on February 22.
