Casualties enroute to the Cabo Wabo

Eighteen teams began the 2021 Cabo Race with staggered starts on March 19 and 20, but attrition began early for the 800nm course from Newport Beach, CA to Cabo San Lucas, MEX. At 2122 on March 20, Manouch Moshayedi’s Bakewell White 100 Rio 100 retired due to rudder linkage issues, while Doug Baker’s Dencho/Kernan 75 Peligroso retired due to gear failure at 0130 on March 21.
