Olympic hopefuls compete in Portugal

Olympic hopefuls will be taking part in the 2021 Cascais 49er and 49erFX Championships May 4-9 in Cascais, Portugal.

Four Canadian sailors who have been nominated to represent Team Canada at this summer’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Ali ten Hove and Mariah Millen (49erFX ) as well as Will Jones and Evan DePaul (49er), will compete.

Two members of the Canadian Sailing Development Squad, sisters Antonia and Georgia Lewin-LaFrance, will represent Canada in the 49erFX competition.

Americans Nevin Snow and Dane Wilson will compete, as well as Ian Burrows and Hans Henken in the 49er class. Stephanie Roble and Margaret Shea are sailing in the 49erFX division for the United States.

The 2020 49erFX World Champions, Támara Echegoyen and Paula Barceló from Spain, are among the close to 40 registered participants who are entered in this competition.
