Skunked at J/70 North Americans

Published on May 14th, 2021

Annapolis, MD (May 14, 2021) – The forecast for day three of the 2021 J/70 North American Championship was grim and that’s what the 59 teams got today as a lack of wind prevented any attempt at racing. After a shoreside postponement, the fleet was sent out early afternoon but the wind gods would soon return them to the harbor.

As light winds prevented any races on day one, and a similar forecast for the final day tomorrow, the requirement of five races to constitute the championship has been revised by the Class Executive Committee, reduced now to the three races already completed.

Overall leader is 2017 J/70 World Champion Peter Duncan while the 24-boat Corinthian division is lead by Zachary Segal and Doug Rastello is atop the eight-boat One-Pro Division.

Racing has been planned for May 12-15.
