VIDEO: College Spring Nationals 2020-21

Published on June 9th, 2021

After the cancellation of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2019-20 Spring Nationals, the ICSA rallied to organize five of its six annual national championship titles for the 2020-21 school year.

Missing was the 2020 Match Race Championship, and while the format for the others was revised to adapt to health regulations, the historic trophies got to fight this year.

The 2021 College Men’s and Women’s Singlehanded National Championships were held May 1-2 in Newport, RI. Charlotte Rose (’22) of Jacksonville University topped the 14-boat women’s division while Thomas McCann (’22) of Georgetown University won the 41-boat men’s fleet.

The attention then turned south for three dinghy titles using Collegiate Dinghy FJs and Z420s in Annapolis, MD. Gone this year is the typical Semi-Final stage which accommodates 36 schools in an effort to minimize impact on host venue, relying on the seven ICSA conferences to qualify 18 teams to compete in the two division format.
