Entry deadline for 2021 Offshore World Championship

Published on July 1st, 2021

US Sailing has been invited by World Sailing and event host, Nostra Rosa Regatta, to select two mixed offshore doubles teams for the 2021 HEMPEL Offshore World Championships on September 16-26 in Italy.

Prospective teams from the United States, consisting of two athletes of different gender, must indicate their interest no later than midnight Central Time on July 15.

The costs are approximately $12,000 for charter of the boat, accommodations, food, and ground transportation. Airfares and damage deposit are additional.

The Notice of Race and the NOR Annex 1 are online.

As NoR 4.1 states “Entrants to be nominated by their MNA,” US Sailing’s International Selection Committee (ISC) has asked Larry Rosenfeld, President of the Offshore Doubles Sailing Association, to form an evaluation group comprised of members with integrity and expertise to rank the applicants and provide a selection recommendation to the ISC.

Prospective USA teams must indicate their interest by filling out a JotForm application. On the application, athletes should be prepared to provide the following:

• Name, contact information
• Teammate’s name, contact information
• Sailing resumes for both athletes (especially offshore shorthanded experience and recent training/racing in Offshore Doubles events)
• Safety at Sea & First Aid certifications

For any questions, contact Betsy Alison at US Sailing.

The ISC will announce the selection decision by July 28, 2021.
