Mater Dei High School wins Mallory

San Diego, CA (June 5, 2022) – Winning both divisions, Mater Dei HS from Santa Ana, CA representing PCISA, is the 2022 ISSA Mallory Dinghy Nationals champion, followed by Severn School (Annapolis, MD) representing MASSA, in a tight finish edging out Immaculata La Salle from Miami, FL/SEISA finishing in third.

Winning A division skipper Morgan Pinckney (Mater Dei) with Vera Allen as crew are both juniors and B division winners were Reade Decker (junior) and Sophia Mulvania (senior) also from Mater Dei.

Twenty high school teams raced the championship series in CFJs. All 20 races were completed with time to spare and fantastic conditions. Day 1 saw cloudy skies with 8-10 knots and today was all sun with 6-9 knots.

Host Mission Bay Yacht Club and regatta chair Chris Wright with PROs Doug Hart (A division) and Jimmer Montgomery (B division) managed a great Race Committee on and off the water. ISSA President Tim Hogan commented, “This was a fantastic, competitive regatta in a perfect venue. Thanks to all volunteers and congratulations to the top 3 teams and all competitors.”
