Final prep for 2023 Etchells World Championship

Published on April 13th, 2023

The 2023 Etchells World Championship has attracted 63 teams from eight nations for the 47th edition to be held April 17-21 in Miami, FL. Skipper Ante Razmilovic and his Swedish Blue (GBR 1438) team will be looking to repeat as World Champs after winning last year in England.

However, skippers Marvin Beckmann, Steve Benjamin, and Jud Smith are among the past title holders looking to dethrone Razmilovic. Numerous other former World Champs, including Bill Hardesty and Skip Dieball, are competing as crew this time around.

Seeking his first title is Jim Cunningham (USA) who has dominated the build-up at the venue, winning both the 4-event 2022-23 Biscayne Bay Regatta Series and 2023 North American Championship.

With racing on Biscayne Bay, this will mark the first time Miami has ever hosted the Etchells World Championship. Dave Brennan is serving as principal race officer, while Jeff Nehms and Chris Lanza are the regatta co-chairmen. They, along with a dedicated team of volunteers, have been working for a year to plan and execute the regatta.
