Four USA skippers in the Global Solo Challenge

The inaugural Global Solo Challenge 2023-24 seeks to be a budget-friendly solo, non-stop race around the world. Eligible boats in excess of 32 feet with an IRC rating below 1.530 will compete with a pursuit start from August 26 to December 16 that begins in A Coruña, Spain, with the first boat to return deemed the winner.

Among the fleet are four American skippers, each with unique stories and compelling motivations for tackling the demanding circumnavigation. From the strength and perseverance of a combat-wounded Marine Corps veteran to the passion of a lifelong sailing enthusiast; from the childhood dream of a seasoned sailor to the adventurous spirit of an investment manager turned marine voyager, these four Americans bring a rich variety of experiences and determination to the event.
