USA at the 2023 Pan American Games

The US Sailing Team won nine medals – four gold, three silver, and two bronze – at the 2023 Pan American Games held October 28 to November 4 in Algarrobo, Chile. Team USA is also leaving Algarrobo with the most medals and the most gold and silver medals of the 27 participating countries.

GOLD: Men’s Skiff (49er) – Ian Barrows (St. Thomas, USVI) and Hans Henken (Coronado, CA)
GOLD: Women’s Formula Kite – Daniela Moroz (Lafayette, CA)
GOLD: Women’s One Person Dinghy (ILCA 6) – Erika Reineke (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
GOLD: Mixed Regional Dinghy (Lightning) – Allan Terhune, Jr. (Annapolis, MD), Sarah Chin (Harvey Cedars, NJ), Madeline Baldridge (Charleston, SC)

SILVER: Women’s Windsurfing (iQFOiL) – Dominique Stater (Miami, FL)
SILVER: Mixed Multihull (Nacra 17) – Sarah Newberry Moore (Miami, FL) and David Liebenberg (Richmond, CA)
SILVER: Mixed Regional Dinghy (Snipe) – Ernesto Rodriguez (Miami, FL) and Kathleen Tocke (Buffalo, NY)

BRONZE: Women’s Skiff (49erFX) – Stephanie Roble (East Troy, WI) and Maggie Shea (Wilmette, IL)
BRONZE: Men’s Windsurfing (iQFOiL) – Noah Lyons (Clearwater, FL)

4. Men’s Formula Kite – Markus Edegran (Palm Beach, FL)
5. Men’s Regional Dinghy (Sunfish) – Conner Blouin (Charleston, SC)
8. Women’s Regional Dinghy (Sunfish) – Amanda Callahan (Canton, MA)
13. Men’s One Person Dinghy (ILCA 7) – Chapman Petersen (Fontana, WI)

The Pan Am Games was also a qualifying event for Paris 2024. As the USA had already gained entry in the Women’s Kite, 49er, 49erFX, and ILCA 6, the USA succeeded in securing an Olympic berth in the Nacra 17 and Women’s iQFOiL.

The USA fell short gaining entry in the Men’s Kite, Men’s iQFOiL, and ILCA 7, and also need to qualify for the Mixed Dinghy event (470) which did not compete at the Pan Am Games. Additional qualifying events remain through April 2024.
