Countdown to JJ Giltinan Championship

Published on February 21st, 2024

After four years of COVID-19 and the aftermath of the pandemic, the Australian 18 Footers League was determined to get the world’s premier 18 footer championship back on track with representatives from as many countries and Australian States as possible to compete for the coveted prize in 2024.

Mission accomplished for the 75th JJ Giltinan 18ft Skiff Championship on March 2-10 in Sydney Harbor. Entries include international entries from Germany, New Zealand, UK, and Denmark along with the two top Queenslanders and a Victorian team will be taking on the club’s local fleet in New South Wales.

The 18 Footers League has always been at the forefront of promotion and development of sailing, sail and boat design worldwide and the JJ Giltinan Championship has always been the pinnacle of the sport since the first edition in 1938. Held annually on Sydney Harbour, the host provides spectators (both on the water and along the harbour foreshores) with the world’s most spectacular racing.
