Foilers get electronic boost

The ability for underwater foils to lift sailboats has proven to be a massive advancement in yacht design. But as brilliant as it is to gain speed when wetted surface is reduced, sailing a foiling boat in light air is akin to running in cement sneakers.
With the increased drag of foils, it is the opposite of brilliant.
So rather than limp along, Australian foiling technology innovator Stoke Foiling has created an electrically boosted foiling dinghy. No, this is not an April Fools gag.
The Stoke Foil Boost, which is already used for SUP foiling and other foiling disciplines, can be integrated onto a foiling dinghy to provide bursts of propulsion when required in light winds.
“With the Stoke Foil Boost attached, you’ll have an easier time getting on the water, more fun when you’re out there, and more days where it’s possible to foil,” reports Hamish Leighton, CEO of Stoke Foiling. “The Stoke Foil Boost is to foiling what the eBike is to cycling.”
Because pedaling is so yesterday.
