USA teams wanted for Offshore Double Handed Worlds

Applications are available to represent the USA at the inaugural Offshore Double Handed World Championship with the 2024 event to be held on September 24-October 1 in Lorient, France. US Sailing is seeking to receive two entries for the event in which teams will race in the identical Sun Fast 30 One Design, one of the first production model sailboats built from a recyclable resin.

US Sailing published Selection Procedures and teams are invited to apply for consideration by the deadline, May 17, 2024 PDT. Applications are now open and can be found here: https://ussailing.jotform.com/241064302850143

Key elements being considered by the US Sailing International Selection Committee include:

• Teams shall be mixed gender: one woman and one man.
• Co-Skippers must be current members of US Sailing and each must have a World Sailing ID.
• Teams must meet the requirements in the Notice of Race
• At least one crewmember must have a current World Sailing Offshore Personal Survival Course “World Sailing Approved” Or US Sailing Sanctioned International Offshore Safety at Sea with Hands-On Training Certificate
• At least one crew member shall have an appropriate radio operation license recognized by a national authority
• Each athlete must be national of the United States and present proof of nationality (passport) or have an approved exemption and provide proof of said exemption at the time of selection. For additional information regarding an athlete who is a national of two or more countries, has changed his or her nationality, or acquired a new nationality, refer to the Olympic Charter (Rule 41).
• Top doublehanded international and domestic race results from 2021-2024.
