J/24 World Championship in the USA

Published on September 28th, 2024

The 2024 J/24 World Championship will celebrate its 45th anniversary on October 1-5 in Seattle, WA. The event’s debut in the Pacific Northwest has attracted 56 teams for the 10-race series from Europe, South America, North America, Australia, and Asia in addition to the United States and Canada.

Since the 1977 launch of the J/24, the first Midwinters in 1978 was held in Key West, FL. A year later, the first J/24 Worlds were in Newport, RI.

The 2024 J/24 Worlds will see teams from ten nations: USA, Australia, Puerto Rico, Italy, England, Germany, Japan, Canada, Ireland, and Greece. Perhaps the most surprising “non-participant” are any teams from South America- Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil- a perennial J/24 “power” in J/24 sailing.
