Published on November 7th, 2024
The first National Championship of the 2024-25 College season commences with the Open and Women’s Singlehanded titles on November 9-10 in St. Petersburg, FL. Eighteen sailors will compete for each title, using the ILCA 7 for the Open division and the ILCA 6 for the Women’s division.
The women’s podium from last year returns, which was won by Ava Anderson ‘27 from Tulane University, followed by Katharine Doble ‘26 from Brown University and Agija Elerte ‘26 from Jacksonville University. Both Anderson and Doble won their 2024 Conference Championships while Elerte was an At Large selection.
Among the men’s 2023 podium, only winner Nicholas Reeser ‘25 from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy returns but Harvard’s Robby Meek ’27 and Benjamin Dufour ’26 from the College of Charleston will be looking to improve on their fourth and fifth place finishes. Meek won his 2024 Conference Championship, but Dufour’s needed an At Large selection as teammate Will Rucker ’28 took the South Atlantic title.
