Nick Scandone and Maureen McKinnon
Nick (1966-2009) and Maureen were finalists for the Hall of Fame in 2022 for their Gold medal in the Beijing 2008 Paralympics and are in the running again for the Class of 2025. Nick is the only Paralympic sailor to win the Rolex Yachtsman of the Year award in 2005 for his win in the 2.4 Meter Open Worlds, and when his ALS limited his physical ability even further, he teamed up with Maureen in the SKUD-18. Maureen went on to sail the Rio 2016 Paralympics and is the first woman to both represent the U.S. and win Gold in Para Sailing. The pair currently holds the only Gold medal for the USA on the winningest Paralympic sailing team in history.
Francis “Conn” Findlay
Findlay (1930-2021) was a rare multi-sport Olympian, earning two Gold and one Bronze medal in rowing and one Bronze in sailing. Findley was a member of the 2024 Class for the National Sailing Hall of Fame, competing with Dennis Conner in the Tempest at the 1976 Games, while sailing in in three America’s Cup campaigns: 1970 aboard Heritage with Charlie Morgan, 1974 aboard Mariner with Ted Turner and aboard Courageous in 1977. Findlay was 47 in the summer of 1977 when he and the rest of the crew defended the America’s Cup.
