Our kind of world championship

As the international authority of the sport, World Sailing has a list of stipulations for an event to be designated a World Championship. The requirements ensure a “worldly” event, such as participants and race officials from international regions to elevate the competition to the highest standard.
But the El Toro Class has their own kind of Worlds.
This four corner pram, active with adults in Northern California and Hawaii, annually hosts the El Toro Worlds’ Race. The name has little to do with high standards but so named as each sailor would bring a different prepared dish, representing a country’s cuisine, for the Saturday evening pot luck dinner.
Scuttlebutt HQ is walking distance from China, German, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Polynesia, and Thailand cuisine. That’s our kind of world championship!
