Hecht claims J/105 North American title

Randy Hecht claimed victory for the third time at the J/105 North American Championship, held in 2025 on September 17-20 in Toronto, Canada. Hect dominated the 12-race series, posting six bullets with crew Russ Silvestri, Ethan Doyle, Maggie Bacon, David Janinis, and Stephen Marsh.

Conditions at Royal Canadian Yacht Club were challenging, as light winds prevailed for the first three days with big breeze at 20-28 knots and 1-meter waves for the final three races.

In the 18-boat field, locals Terry McLaughlin and Rod Wilmer’s Mandate edged out Bruce Stone’s Arbitrade by only one point to earn the runner-up position.
