Sharing 150 years of boating adventure

Published on September 24th, 2025

Sailing legend Dee Caffari MBE hosts a new series – RYA 150 Podcast – which celebrates 150 years of the Royal Yachting Association – the National Governing Body for boating in the United Kingdom. The series will share a century and a half of adventure, with each episode providing first-hand accounts, behind-the-scenes insights, and inspiring stories from the people who lived them.

In the first episode, Caffari asks the question, “How did Great Britain become the world’s most successful Olympic sailing nation?” She speaks with 1964 medalist Keith Musto OBE, former coach Rod Carr CBE, and past Olympic Manager Stephen ‘Sparky’ Park CBE which reveal how resilience, determination, and targeted resource and innovation carried British sailors from the days of amateur campaigns to consistent podium-topping performances.
