Fresh blood for Team New Zealand

Published on October 17th, 2025

The America’s Cup defender is retooling for the 38th America’s Cup in 2027, adding a new mix of young Kiwi sailing talent and multiple Olympic medal winning experience to the sailing team for their defense in Naples, Italy.

The new hires for the Emirates Team New Zealand sailing team are Jo Aleh, Seb Menzies, Josh Armit, and Jake Pye. They will be joining the existing AC75 sailing team of Nathan Outteridge, Andy Maloney, Blair Tuke, Chris Draper, and Sam Meech.

It was previously revealed that three-time America’s Cup winning skipper Peter Burling had joined the perennial challenger Luna Rossa.

Double Olympic medalist Aleh, who fulfills the new requirement for teams to have a woman among the crew, was a helm for New Zealand in the inaugural Women’s America’s Cup. “The 38th America’s Cup is going to be a real milestone for women in sailing and I feel very privileged to be a part of that and hopefully to be one of the first women racing on the AC75s and illustrating that we can do this.” – Full report
