America’s Cup: No moving, no problem
Published on October 10th, 2025
The Argo Challenge wants to participate in the 38th America’s Cup with an international sailing team composed of male and female athletes with physical disabilities. Heiko Kroeger, one of the best disabled sailors of all time, believes in the mission.
The German sailor, born without a left forearm, is a two-time Paralympic medalist, holds eight world titles, and is currently the President of the International 2.4 mR Class.
“We fully support this idea, and in our Class, there are several sailors with disabilities who could be part of the team,” noted Kroeger. “After all, we are used to being in a cockpit and steering the boat using only our hands. With adequate preparation, one can also be competitive.”
Both the AC40 and AC75 to be used for the 2027 edition do not require the sailors to move from their station while racing.
