Seahorse Sailor of the Month

Published on October 28th, 2025

Seahorse magazine hosts a monthly poll to recognize recent achievement, and Scuttlebutt is leaning in to support North American interests:

BOB HUGHES (USA)
Bob Hughes has been both passionate as well as very successful now for close to 40 years at the pointy end of one-design keelboat classes in the US, including the Melges 24, Melges 32 and 1D35s, then Farr 40s and J/70s. Most recently he has demonstrated his prowess on longer courses in this year’s GL52 Series on his 2015 Botín TP52 Heartbreaker. As an owner-driver, his programs are lean yet efficient, delivering strong results for one of the best-sailed pro-am teams in the USA.

PAULINE COURTOIS (FRA)
In Chicago in September, Courtois and her Match in Pink race team secured a 5th World Match Racing title. We’ll add that it was a 5th consecutive title, having left nothing on the table for any of their wannabe rivals since winning the first title in Cherbourg in 2021. This year saw a repeat of last year’s final, the French crew once again lining up against Megan Thomson’s now much improved team from New Zealand. Tougher than 2024 but the Kiwis still went down 3-1.
