Political conflict at World Sailing meeting

Published on November 1st, 2025

A group of barristers and solicitors have lodged a complaint with the Irish Government after the head of the Israeli Sailing Association (ISA) registered to attend the 2025 World Sailing Annual Conference on November 1-8 in Dún Laoghaire.

Among the list of registered attendees for the event is Smadar Pintov, the CEO of the ISA.

A group of barristers and solicitors wrote to Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin expressing “disbelief and extreme disappointment” over Ms Pintov’s registration to attend. The group urged a ban on Ms Pintov entering Ireland in light of Ireland’s opposition to the actions of Israel in Gaza and the recent detainment of Irish citizens aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla. – Full report
