J/70 North American Championship

Published on December 6th, 2025

Forty-two teams competed in the 2025 J/70 North American Championship held December 3-6 in Tampa, FL. After nine races, Haroldo Solberg’s OceanPact from Brazil won by a point over Dalton Bergan (USA) with Bruce Golison (USA) six points off the lead in third. However, Bergan got the overall title as the winner must be from a North American country.

After four days, the title came down to the final race sailed in planing conditions, with Bergan winning the race but Solberg was just behind in second.

“The Class in Brazil is improving a lot,” noted Solberg who finished fourth at the 2025 Class Worlds. “Two or three years ago, we had only six boats. Now we have almost twenty, and the level keeps rising. At the Worlds in Buenos Aires, Brazilians finished third, fourth, and fifth — that shows how strong the fleet has become.”

Fourteen teams competed in the Corinthian division, led by Lee Sackett who finished 17th overall.
