New Americas Cup for gamers

I wondered if the headline – Everything to know about the 2026 Americas Cup – was a typo since the next edition wasn’t until 2027. But then I learned that another Americas Cup was having its first ever event on March 4-8. And its for video gamers.

I couldn’t figure out what it all meant aside from it hoped to promote rivalry between North and South America. The F18 Class has an Americas Championship to do the same thing, but they were smart enough to avoid conflict. Will the trustees of sailing’s America’s Cup – the oldest active international competition – care enough? Standing by.
