U.S. Wingfoil Championship

The 2026 U.S. Wingfoil Championship on July 31-August 2 attracted competitors in the WingFoil Open Class and X‑15 One Design Class. After Kai Mirel topped the open division qualifying, an elimination format for the title had Sean Herbert emerge as the winner with Mirel as runner-up. With racing on San Francisco Bay, Sean Herbert (NZL) earned the overall championship victory following an outstanding performance throughout the event, while Kai Mirel (USA) secured the title of 2026 U.S. National Champion.

The 2026 U.S. Wingfoil Championships had three days of sunshine, strong winds, and high-speed racing on one of the world’s premier sailing venues.

“Thanks to incredible conditions, adaptable athletes, and our dedicated race management volunteers, we completed the full racing schedule while testing new course formats that will help shape the future of wingfoil racing. The addition of Parawing Foil racing was another exciting milestone, highlighting the sport’s rapid evolution,” said Felix Wiedling, St. Francis Yacht Club’s Race Director.
