Ripping ride south to Puerto Vallarta

Published on March 17th, 2014

(March 17, 2014) – The Mariachi musicians were tuning instruments today as the leader in the 1000 nm San Diego to Vallarta International Yacht Race blasted across the Gulf and bore down on the Puerto Vallarta finish line. As of 1400 the MOD70 Orion had 78.3nm to go, and was reaching in at 16+ knots, after starting on Saturday (Mar. 15). With the tracker posting a 4-hour delay, and regatta organizers sipping Margaritas rather than sharing updates, we can only assume that skipper Charlie Ogletree and navigator Peter Isler will soon be gripping cold beverages and remarking on their ripping ride south.
