Baldwin Cup: One of the most coveted team racing invitations

Newport Beach, CA (April 3, 2014) ­ Building upon the success of this well-respected team racing event founded in 2007, the Newport Harbor Yacht Club will host the seventh annual Baldwin Cup Team Race presented by JPMorgan Chase & Co. April 4-6 on Newport Harbor.

Considered an institution among international sailing circles, this event features 12 of the most respected yacht clubs from the United States and the United Kingdom, in addition to some of the most accomplished sailors, including America’s Cup crewmembers. During the three-day event, using a team format with four on four boats, they will compete in 150 races in equalized Harbor 20s with over 400 watching from dockside in front of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club.

“This Baldwin Cup Team Race is one of the most coveted invitations in the country,” said Gale Nye Pinckney, commodore of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club. “The event has grown from six teams to now 12 teams with an international reach.”
