Esimit Europa 2 takes Rolex Middle Sea Race line honors

(October 21, 2014) – Igor Simcic’s 100ft canting keel maxi Esimit Europa 2 (SLO) has taken line honours in the 608 nm Rolex Middle Sea Race, crossing the finish line today outside the Royal Malta Yacht Club at 22hrs 42 mins 5 seconds for an elapsed time of 3days 10hrs 42mins 5secs. Since the start on Saturday, the first four days of the race has been beset by light winds but a frontal system from the northwest is due to arrive tonight and by Wednesday the wind speed is expected to increase significantly.
