Sailing returns to Paralympic Games

(April 1, 2015) – The International Paralympic Committee has announced that sailing has been reinstated for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. After months of whining and badgering by irate, professional disabled sailors (mostly from GBR), they finally succumbed to the incessant pressure and acquiesced.

However, due to the mandated design constraints (approved by ISFA) that the Olympic facilities accommodate only centerboard boats, a new list of equipment has been required for the three Paralympic Sailing events.

The Single-Person Event will change from the 2.4mR to the Europe Dinghy, the Two-Person Event from the Skud-18 to the 303 Access Dinghy, and the Three-Person Event from the Sonar to the Lightning Class.

The IPC statement explained how the changes were made in direct response to the countless gripes, bitches and complaints about the lack of abundant, cheap boats, even though the current boats all have proven to be safe, seaworthy and durable for the disabled sailing community.
