Gulari Wins Melges 24 U.S. Nationals

Published on October 9th, 2016

Lake Geneva, WI (October 9, 2016) – The Line Honors 2016 Melges 24 U.S. National Championship concluded today, hosted by the Lake Geneva Yacht Club (LGYC). Forty six teams traveled to participate from all across North America and around the world to race the U.S. Melges 24 Class Association’s (USMCA) biggest event.

Two races were run today with Bora Gulari securing the title. But going into the final races, with Conor Clarke close on points, Gulari started on the wrong foot with an OCS and eventually retired from a position very deep in the fleet – well beyond his previous discard of 11th. Gulari was saved when Clarke did not achieve the result required.
