Classic Yacht Symposium – Call for Papers / Save the Date

The 6th Classic Yacht Symposium will be held at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, RI on May 2-4, 2014. Interested parties worldwide are invited to present a paper on a subject relative to excellence in classic yacht design, restoration, replication, or use. Topics of interests include:

* Classic yacht design; analytical & test basis for the designs; comparisons to current practice and technology

* Classic yacht restoration/replication and ; both power and sail
~Perspectives on elements of a successful project by owner, designer, builder
~Implementation- research, scope, purpose, techniques, lessons-learned
~Technical details and features- hull, sails, spars and rig, powering, fittings and
outfit, rating rules
~International experience in rebuilding classic racing fleets

* Adaptation of classic designs to modern materials

* Herreshoff Centennial Yachts- Herreshoff designs celebrating 100 years
~Newport 29
~Buzzards Bay 25
~Buzzards Bay Boys Boats (H12 1/2)

A special invitation for all owners, former owners, builders, restorers and observers of the Herreshoff Centennial Classes to provide your comments and experiences in a short paper format.

Important Dates
June 28, 2013 – Submission of abstracts- 300 words
July 12, 2013 – Authors informed of acceptance
October 11, 2013 – Submission of draft papers
October 25, 2013 – Selection of papers to be presented
December 20, 2013 – Submission of final papers
