Class 40 Transat Jacques Vabre Campaign For Jenner & Windsor

Newport, RI (August 5, 2013) – 11th Hour Racing, a program of The Schmidt Family Foundation, announces their title sponsorship of Class 40 sailors Hannah Jenner and Rob Windsor. The newly formed team will compete as Team 11th Hour Racing and aim to set the example for a more responsible relationship with energy and water resources in the sport of sailing. Jenner and Windsor will adopt 11 bold solutions to sail Cleaner. Faster. Better. Examples of their solutions include: utilization of a hydro-generator, water-maker and a solar powered fridge on board during the Transat Jacques Vabre, of which the last has yet to be accomplished in a major offshore ocean race.

British sailor, Jenner, a member of the winning crew onboard Dorade in the 2013 Transpac and 3rd in the 2011 Transat Jacques Vabre, will race with Long Island, New York native Rob Windsor. Windsor placed 2nd in the 2011 Atlantic Cup and New York Yacht Club Trans-Atlantic Race. The Team 11th Hour Racing schedule will include three premier Class 40 events: The Fastnet, Class 40 Worlds and culminate with the 5,395-nautical mile Transat Jacques Vabre. Following the Transat Jaques Vabre, Jenner and Windsor will embark on a speaking tour to share with yacht clubs and sailing centers their experiences and how best to apply what they accomplished and learned to other areas of sailing.
