Challenger Rematch Begins Saturday

It’s been six long years since the two best challenging teams met for the right to compete in the America’s Cup.

The venue was Valencia, Spain.

The date was June 1, 2007.

The teams were Luna Rossa Challenge and Emirates Team New Zealand.

Both teams had decisive results in the Semi-Finals, where Luna Rossa Challenge defeated BMW Oracle Racing 5-1, and Emirates Team New Zealand defeated Desafío Español 2007 5-2.

The Kiwis were the favorites in the Finals, validating that contention by blanking the Italians 5-0, only then to lose to defender Alinghi (SUI) 5-2 in the 32nd Match.

After being spectators for the Deed of Gift 33rd America’s Cup, these two teams are back again for the 34th edition.
