PHOTO: What are these spectator boats chasing?

This boat was the 2013 Rolex Fastnet Race elapsed time winner, arriving at the finish line off Plymouth Breakwater in an elapsed time of 38 hours 53 minutes and 58 seconds – but short of the the 32 hour 48 minute course record this same boat set in the stronger winds of the 2011 race.
