Sailing included in 2014 Gay Games

The 2014 Gay Games will be held in Cleveland, Ohio on August 9-16, with sailing competition at Edgewater Yacht Club on August 10-15.

The Gay Games are held every four years and is the largest all inclusive sporting event in the world. There are 35 sports attracting over 10,000 participants. This is the only time this decade the Games will be held in the United States.

Sailors compete in two fleets, with round robins and eliminations culminating to an exciting final medal series. The event is limited to twenty teams – 12 Competitive (Spinnaker) and 8 Recreational (Non-Spinnaker). Lightnings will make up the competitive fleet, while the recreational fleet will be sailing on Tartan-Tens. All boats will carry 4-person crews.
