For the record: Over 300 nm of Laser sailing

(July 2, 2014) – After departing from the Norforlk, VA on June 29, 51-year old Robert Suhay has been aboard a Laser dinghy in an attempt to break the Guinness Book record for longest distance sailed in a dinghy totally unassisted with no landfall. Mexican Olympic Laser sailor Tania Elias Calles is the current record holder, having traveled 300 nautical miles in 2010. Robert is aiming for 317nm, with his route in the Chesapeake Bay planned to extend from Norfolk to Pooles Island near Chestertown (MD) and back. Robert is currently on the return leg of the trip.
