Grueling conditions for Vanguard 15 US Nationals

Chicago’s Val Smith and Heidi Rittenmeyer won the 2014 Vanguard 15 US National Championship, held October 4-5 in Nashville, TN. Ten races were completed in grueling conditions, with Saturday providing 25-30+ knots for five races, with 15-20 knots on Sunday to complete five more races. Smith/Rittenmeyer dominated the series, winning five of the races to seal the victory with a race to spare. Cole Allsopp and Anne Megargel (Annapolis, MD) finished second with Nashville V15 fleet cofounder Chris LaBorde with crew Ryanne Gallagher in third. Full results.
